Responsible Use Policy
pomela lets anyone build and ship an app in seconds. This policy keeps that power from being abused. It is part of the Terms of Service.
1 · Prohibited content & uses
You may not build, distribute, or operate an app that:
- Sexualizes minors, or facilitates child sexual abuse material (CSAM), zero tolerance, reported to authorities.
- Incites or threatens violence, terrorism, or self‑harm; promotes hate against protected groups.
- Phishes, scams, defrauds, or impersonates a person, brand, or government.
- Sells or facilitates illegal goods, weapons, drugs, or stolen data/credentials.
- Harasses, doxes, or surveils individuals without consent.
- Collects prohibited sensitive data (health, biometric, government‑ID, or payment‑card data) without a separate written agreement, see the Terms.
- Distributes malware, runs unauthorized crypto‑mining, or attacks others' systems.
- Infringes intellectual‑property, publicity, or privacy rights.
2 · How we enforce, the enforcement ladder
We don't pre‑screen apps, but we act on what we find or what is reported. Enforcement is proportionate and escalates:
| Step | Action | When |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Restrict | Reduce an app's visibility (de‑list from discovery, gate public access) | Borderline or unverified reports |
| 2 · Remove | Take the app offline via the Kill Switch: it stops serving immediately (451) | Clear policy violation |
| 3 · Suspend | Suspend the creator's account & all their apps | Repeat or serious violations |
| 4 · Terminate | Permanently terminate the account and delete its data | Egregious or unlawful conduct |
Backed by real tooling
This ladder is not aspirational. Steps 2–4 are enforced by the platform Kill Switch (an admin control that flips an app or account to a non‑serving state instantly) and the per‑app Report Abuse button that feeds a moderation queue. The highest‑severity categories (e.g., CSAM) skip straight to removal + reporting to law enforcement.
3 · Reporting abuse
Anyone can report a pomela app:
- In‑app: every generated app carries a Report control that files a report into our moderation queue with the app, reason, and timestamp.
- By email: [email protected], for urgent or sensitive reports.
- Law enforcement & legal requests: [email protected]. We respond to valid legal process and preserve data where lawfully required.
We review reports promptly, prioritize by severity, and apply the ladder above. We may notify the creator unless doing so would impede an investigation or risk harm.
4 · Appeals
If your app or account was actioned and you believe it was a mistake, reply to the notice or email [email protected]. We will review good‑faith appeals.
A lawyer should align the prohibited‑use categories with the laws of pomela's launch jurisdictions (e.g., DSA notice‑and‑action timelines in the EU, NCMEC reporting obligations in the US) and confirm the law‑enforcement response process.
